Barrett Had Threatened To Do So. “DANVILLE, av., Sept. 26.—That Thomas Bailey, who shot and killed Berry B, Barrett yesterday morning, as late as Sunday told friends that he had warned Barrett that he would blow his brains out if he ever ques tioned his conduct with Barrett’s wife wa s the startling testimony given yes- terday evening at the coroner’s in quest by Mrs. Barrett. The young man, who was present and who asked to testify in order that it might not appear that he was try ing to conceal anything,, was' suffering from a bad case of nerves and cried piteously as he reached the climax of his story. J. D. Jones, who was try ing to settle the differences between Barrett and his wife and who saw the shooting, said that Barrett, after being called a liar by Bailey, closed with him, folding his arms about him. At that time Bailey had no revolver in his hand. They struggled from the I parlor to the hall and Bailey, after [ managing to free one arm, ran his hand into his trousers pocket and drew forth the pistol and began to shoot. Bailey says that he does not even know if he pulled the trigger, for he was too intent on keeping the muzzle away from his-direction. J MARKETS t (By Associated Press.)
